Saluting the sacrifices of the courageous men who fought and won in 1971 the victory flame was in Budhal to revive the memories of the brave and instill inspiration to the youth!
Budhal, Kalakote, Mahore and Reasi are also the places from where bravery oozes. These beautiful places have produced strong and sturdy men who know many things about the art of fighting and they have been proving it since 1947-48 may be beyond too when J&K was a kingdom.
Right from 1947-48 Budhal was in the war map as Indian soldiers drove out the tribal riders who had sneaked through. Thereafter fighting for the nation got inter mixed with their bloods and they produced warriors of supreme qualities.
The boys who became men from Kalakote, Mahore and Reasi too displayed a similar acumen and stood out in 1965 and 1971 wars and were in the thick of it during the periods of high octane anti terror operations when terrorist leader Bakht Zameen’s men from terror group Al Badr had occupied the heights of Mahore and Kalakote.
In the 1971 war the men were again at the forefront and displayed indomitable courage and the fighting spirit so necessary for a bullet for bullet exchange and if need be bayonet to bayonet.
Their elders perhaps told them that if you have a dream, don’t just sit there. Gather courage to believe that you can succeed and leave no stone unturned to make it a reality. The war veterans who had lined up at Budhal for the receiving of the victory flame had several such anecdotes to tell.
Here is another one that was going around in the gathering, sometimes standing against evil is more important than defeating it. The greatest of our heroes here know that they stand because it is right to do so. Now the new ones born in the countryside also want to do it and they have shown how it can be done.
Words run out in describing the officers and men of the Indian army. They have done so much for the nation that even the 26 letters also known as alphabets seem less and the same is the case of billions of words in the lexicon’s and thesaurus’s in circulation and they keep adding on to be deciphered and used. These soldiers we take are the heroes who are destined to serve, to make this world a better place. An army is its soldiers and this simple measure makes us better than any technological development ever could. They are the ones who do exceptional, unthinkable and memorable things and that is the reason they become the pantheons of skill and others for others trying to step into their shoes and want to emulate them. And thus the saga of bravery continues and it is unstoppable as far as the Indian Army goes. This victory flame being carried in Rajouri and Poonch districts is a testimony to the fact.
The world’s greatest achievers have been those who have always stayed focused on their goals and have been consistent in their efforts. Ever since it’s inception Indian Army has excelled and in 1971 they proved to the world how great things can be done in the shortest time frame. They were fighting on two fronts and on both Pakistan was given a mauling of the lifetime as it was a defeat in detail as far as the Pakistan Army was concerned. Our officers and men fought it out the hard way and so ferocious and breathtaking lightning was the strike that the whole thing was over in a matter of days and this was all possible because our officers and men were right on top of the enemy without caring for their personal safety and were ready to sacrifice their lives smilingly for the cause of the nation and peace to prevail subsequently! The same was done with panache. Therefore to pay the tributes to the warriors the victory flame reached Budhal and what happened here went as follows:
Swarnim Vijay Varsh is being celebrated to commemorate 50 years of India’s stellar victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
In order to pay homage to Indian Army war veterans, martyrs and also to those who fought in 1971, a victory flame is being carried in all cardinal directions in India.
As a prologue to this mega celebratory event, the victory flame was received in Budhal where tributes were paid to the gallant soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice while carrying out their duties right up front amidst blazing fusillade of bullets and shrapnel’s of the grenades and bombs flying all over the place.
Former servicemen from Rajouri and Reasi districts who participated in the 1971 war were also present and they laid the wreaths in memory of their fallen comrades. A documentary was thereafter shown to the veterans to commemorate the glorious victory of 1971 war.
Patriotic songs reverberated in the environment all sung by children and speeches were also delivered by veterans giving accounts of the battles they fought.
As a souvenir of the event caps with insignia and other gifts were also presented to twenty five war veterans of the 1971 war.
The program was conducted in memory of our brave soldiers, who dismantled the enemy and secured a resounding victory. This was an emotional occasion and thus everyone was grim but the chests were swollen with pride.
The celebrations were conducted keeping covid–19 protocols at the back of the mind. The event culminated with a high tea with war Veterans.
They walked into the war arena since they knew that had a task to perform, they knew that had to strive valiantly, they had all the enthusiasm, the devotion was inbuilt, and were ready to spend themselves in a worthy cause, they knew that they had to win and they did it hands down and thus walked into a giant of a memory lane smilingly! That is why they never fade and remain embossed in the hearts of the people forever !
