A road between zacheldara Satkoji connecting around 40 villages in Rajwar area of Kupwara district has remained incomplete for 13 years, residents of the area say.
They staged a protest demonstration at Rajpora village against PMGYS authorities for slow pace of work as villagers in the area face hardships due to the dilapidated condition of the road.
“The road lies in a dilapidated condition since decades due to which we face many difficulties. We appealed to the concerned authorities many times to repair the road but they don’t pay any heed to our sufferings,”said imtiyaz Ahmad, a resident of Rajpora.
The road which connects more than 40 villages of the area was awarded for construction to PMGYS in 2008 with the amount of 8 crore rupees for 8. Kms
Locals allege that last year a patch was macadamised but within a year the road is back to the same condition with potholes dotting its length.
“It clearly exposes the low cost material used during macadamisation of this road,” said another local of Rajpora village.
“With no proper drainage system along the road walking becomes more difficult, mostly during this rainy season.”
“The authorities are not taking it seriously to resolve the issue which has put us in more suffering,” Angry sparks said.
The protesting residents made a fervent appeal to the Lt Governor of J&K to personally look into the matter and help resolve their problems.
Meanwhile when contacted Exen PMGYS handwara Mr fayaz Ahmad told the matter will be solved with in 15 days .
