That is how I would sum up Tirlochan Singh Wazir’s life which ended in the most gruesome of ways!
-‘Reasons could be many but everything seems to be happening in hush-hush tones though vibrant enough to be audible because Wazir was a prominent Sikh leader, former member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, and a senior National Conference leader from Jammu. Tarlochan Singh Wazir (67) was found dead in Delhi’s Moti Nagar area under mysterious circumstances.’
-‘Wazir was one of the biggest of transporters of J&K, was active in different social and religious organizations. He remained president of the J&K State Gurdwara Parbandhak Board for years together. Wazir was found dead in the Moti Nagar area of Delhi. His family members have left for Delhi. But later on it was declared that it was a murder well hatched’
-‘According to family sources, Wazir was supposed to go to Canada but went missing in Delhi on September 2, 2021. His family members have settled in Canada. The Delhi Police registered a case of murder in connection with the mysterious death of Wazir. Quoting DCP, West Delhi a local newspaper reported that he came to Delhi on September 2, was going to Canada to meet his family. He had to board a flight on September 3 2021 which he couldn’t. He could have never!’
‘ Needless to mention Wazir’s body was found in a decomposed state, the cause of his death later was duly confirmed. He was found with his head covered in Polythene sheet, injuries on the back of his head and also a gunshot mark’
-‘It was further informed that one Harpreet Singh was known to Wazir and was in his good books. He is currently absconding and his numbers are switched off, the police said. His body was found in the washroom attached to the bedroom in the flat.’ Now who is Harpreet Singh, yet has to be found out but whoever he was he knew Tirlochan Singh’s plans and what was to be done with him ultimately’! He did that disdainfully.
-‘It was planned in very minutest of details and that too by a professional killer and that was the reason as to why the dead body was found in decomposed state after six days and there was no clue as to where he was? But someone definitely knew as to where he was and what had to be done by him. Wazir would not have gone to Delhi alone and walked into Harpreet’s flat?’
-‘Wazir’s family was in Canada, fabulous but what was he doing in Jammu then! He had lived his age and should have been with his family? But he had his property here and flourishing transport business and political connections. Obviously he never wanted to or could have never left J&K. Or he wanted to and someone was forcing him and never wanted him to go away? He could never or otherwise stated he could not have? Speculative interpretation but there is a high pedigree possibility’!
-‘Big men, big legacy, big connections and big mysteries followed by a high profile killing is what happens in such cases. In this one something stranger happened. The Delhi Police said that they had received information from the Jammu police stating that there could be a corpse here in Moti Nagar. His family in Canada got worried and called Harpreet Singh whose flat he was staying in here on rent. He had informed Wazir’s family that he had been quarantined in Frankfurt for 72 hours. When Wazir did not reach Canada after the mentioned period his family suspected foul play and informed the Jammu police which in turn informed us.’ There could be a corpse in the house that Harpreet had recommended to Wazir for stay and he (Tirlochan) was in Frankfurt? This clearly suggests that it was all planned.
-‘Wazir’s brother Bhupinder Singh, a retired officer of J&K Police, who reached New Deli following the news of his death, said that he was informed that his brother could have been killed due to political rivalry.’ Now the question is with whom if the retired Police Officer’s statement is taken into account!’ By the way the whole family is administratively and politically well connected in UT Jammu and Kashmir!
* Tirlochan Singh Wazir was a prominent leader from Jammu and he regularly raised issues faced by the Sikh community. As president of the J&K motor transporters’ association, he also fought for their rights. Strongly opposed to Sikh radical groups and their ideology, Wazir was a close confidante of NC leaders Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. He had many friends but there was no dearth of foes either!
* He had also served a jail sentence in the infamous Chopra Murder case but was released subsequently. So three state Police Departments are hunting the person who took Wazir out of the equation and the needle of suspicion is swinging in various directions! But who is Harpreet Singh the man who knew that Tarlochan Singh was quarantining in Frankfurt where as he was not alive to walk out of the doors of the flat again! That is why I told you all that the whole thing was planned to the minutest of details.
His lifestyle was sprawling, extravagant in every avenue and a man who was considered big in every aspect. But perhaps in this fast moving roulette of life he forgot a thing or two. A few of them after seeing, hearing and reading about him I have come to the conclusion that he did not learn a few things of life and the first one should have been that he was slowing down with age and the others were catching up at a breakneck speed. By others I mean the men with devious minds. Friendship is everything. Friendship is more than talent. It is more than everything else. It is almost the equal of family but is still not. One missed out fact, one lost moment of reality can get you to a moment of disaster. Indeed great men are not born great, they grow great and he in his field of operations had grown great especially so in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and now Union Territory. Another pertinent thing perhaps he did not learn was, never hate your enemies. It affects your judgment. Probably in this case it did. The next thing with age he forgot was that revenge is a dish that tastes best when served cold. In this case someone was looking at an opportunity because the same could not have happened in a day. This probably caught Wazir unawares. He had no idea as to what was in store for him in that flat but definitely something was? Something scary and chilling. The same was proven to hilt! Harpreet Singh was known to Wazir and was in his good books. He is currently absconding and his numbers are switched off, the police said. His body was found in the washroom attached to the bedroom in the flat. It was the day his granddaughter was born but the plans had been prepared to make sure that he leaves Mother Earth. The same happened!
Wazir was a former member of the J&K Legislative Council, chairman of J&K’s Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, and president of a transport union for the last three decades, had come to Delhi on September 2 from his residence in Jammu’s Gandhi Nagar. His granddaughter was born on September 2 in Canada. He was to take the flight at 2 a.m. on September 3. That’s why he had come to Delhi. He was to stay with his family in Canada for a while. Here are something’s that have come up to the surface:
His close associates have said that in Basai Darapur, Mr. Wazir had been staying with a man identified as Harpreet Singh, a prime suspect for the police.’
Harpreet introduced himself as a journalist to Mr. Wazir over a year ago. He said he ran a newspaper and was publishing 2 lakh copies a day, and a website.’ `
He convinced Mr. Wazir that he would publish stories on him and Mr. Wazir, being a political figure, believed him.
Over the last one year, the suspect met Mr. Wazir many times. Harpreet Singh gained his confidence to the point that Mr. Wazir would go anywhere this man would ask, and a man of his stature wouldn’t otherwise. Whatever I have gathered about the man, Wazir was not a kind that he would go in for popularity because over the years his name mattered. How Harpreet managed to convince him is rather intriguing?
When Mr. Wazir told Harpreet that he was coming to Delhi as he had to fly to Canada, the suspect allegedly convinced Mr. Wazir to have dinner with him and said that he (Harpreet) would then drop him (Wazir to the airport). This probably was the trap set and Tirlochan walked straight into it.
His NC associate further added that Harpreet was really forcing him (Mr. Wazir) to stay with him and he agreed. But he was sounding disoriented, he said, adding that Mr. Wazir video-called his wife thereafter, with Mr. Harpreet sitting next to him.
A few hours later, Harpreet allegedly video-called Mr. Wazir’s son from the airport and said he had dropped him Wazir and that he would reach Canada in three-four days as the flight was via Germany. Harpreet is said to have kept Mr. Wazir’s phone switched on till Wednesday morning.
As per the police, the flat in Moti Nagar where the murder took place was taken on rent in January and the landlord was told that it would be vacated by the 10th of September.
II. What could this whole affair be for?
Definitely it was not a sudden strike. It was executed with full planning. Harpreet meeting as a journalist but on whose pretext is not known as yet? This is because suddenly someone would not come introducing himself as a journalist and then getting so close to his target. Then buying a flat which was to be used only till tenth of September 2021, the CCTV footage where three men can be seen two have been recognized but the third is missing and not known, the killers staying with the dead body for a few days and leaving the AC switched on for the smell of the rotten corpse not to spread, face covered with polythene, injury on the back of the head and a gunshot mark clears all the doubts that it was a brutal killing and more or less the hillers have been identified but still the motive remains unearthed?
You cannot say ‘no’ to the people you love, not often. That’s the secret. And then when you do, it has to sound like a ‘yes’. Probably that’s the mistake Wazir made or was made to commit one. He was to proceed to Canada that day on his granddaughter’s arrival on earth celebration. His family knew it, his close one’s knew it but someone else also knew it who had the best plans laid. Perhaps Harpreet and his handlers had heard the great Italian a little joke, that the world is so hard a man must have two fathers to look after him, and that’s why they have godfathers. Harpreet knew as to why he was following Tirlochan but the latter had no idea of the man posing as friend and his intent! The result is there right in front of everyone! The lesson learnt is, never let anyone know what you are thinking. Perhaps Wazir had made the mistake. The motive could be any, political stands out as the family suggests with their doubts indicating at SGPC elections, it could be the transport connection since Harmeet Singh is a transporter from Nanak Nagar or could be a property affair or a revenge killing or something very extreme. Police investigation revealed that the murder was planned in July but could not be executed then. It could not have happened in Jammu and the reason was the escape would have been impossible and thus the spot and the execution was shifted to Delhi and the date when Wazir was to travel was known to the planners as well as executioners!
He probably at that time thought, if I can die saying, life is so beautiful then nothing else is important. Mind you he was going to see his granddaughter but destiny had already hatched a very complex plot to end his game of life! It should not have happened but it was destined to!
