Chiranjeevi Lord Hanuman (and more) Lord Hanuman was given multiple boons by various gods in his “childhood” for those who do not know. Lord Brahma gave him the boon of “indestructibility”, Yamaraj gave him the boon of “immortality”, also according to some versions Lord Indra gave him the boon “death would only occur by your own volition” (ichha-mritya, like Bhisma Pitamaha). Furthermore, Mata Sita blessed him with ever-youth.
But, that is not it! A Chiranjeevi is any individual who would live till the end of Kaliyuga. Lord Hanuman is much more than a Chiranjeevi, he has been there in all of the yugas. One may argue how come that be so? Because Ramayan took place in Tretayuga.
Time, in its basic form, is like a loop. There have been many Mahayugas before, a Mahayug is combination of Satyuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparyuga and Kaliyug. Hence, Lord Hanuman lives through Kaliyuga and then also the next Satyuga. Perhaps, he is “Parabrahma”, which is equal to Parmahtama in his unmanifested form.
One possible explanation for Lord Hanuman’s existence in Satyuga is that he lives through previous yugas, then Satyugas and when it is time for Lord Ram to be born; he dissolves the current Maya form and is reborn as a baby.
Ramayana is so old, that’s why it is normal to have so many versions existing all around the world. But, the most accepted is Valmiki Ramayan, which was written by Lord Valmiki at the request of Lord Brahma; and it is written in Sanskrit. Lord Tulsidas’ Ramcharitramanus is also common due to its comprehensibility (it is written in Awadhi).
But, the two most perfect versions of Ramayanas we humans could never attain are Mool-Ramayan narrated by Lord Narad Muni, which allegedly consists of 100-crore verses!
Then, there is Hanumad Ramayana; written by Lord Hanuman himself. But, looking at the beauty of the magnificent text written by Lord Hanuman; Valmiki Ji felt inferior and dejected. Looking at the circumstances, Lord Hanuman threw his version of Ramayan in the ocean so that Valmiki ji’s Ramayan would be accepted by the world.
Such is the humility of Lord Hanuman.
Hanuman and the lost ring (theory of multiverses)
At the time of his departure, Lord Ram was to be visited by Yamaraj in a human form. He requested the Lord to dispose of the human form so that Dwaparyuga could take place. Lord Ram knew that Hanuman would not let Yamaraj even come near, Hanuman ji always protected Lord Ram; and every who wishes to meet or experience Lord Ram must take permission from Hanumanji himself.
As a leela, Lord Ram threw his ring in a crack inside of earth which led to another dimension, the dimension of Vasukhi.
He then asked his devotee Hanuman to get back his ring which was fallen through the crack. Lord Hanuman did so, he travelled through various dimensions only to find a ring in nowhere. He picked up the ring, just when his eyes went on another identical ring. This confused Lord Hanuman, he further looked around to find even more rings.
Later, being greeted by Vasukhi, who explained to him “In every Mahayuga, there is a tretayug where Lord Ram is born; and when there is Lord Ram, Hanuman will also be present. So, in every Mahayuga, Lord Ram throws his ring through a crack…” Vasukhi addressed Lord Hanuman and showed him an infinite mountain of rings that were present there.
After hearing this leela of Prabhu, he understood what was exactly happening. He realised that both Lord Ram and he are eternal, unity and ever-existing in their unmanifested form.
There are many other stories in Sanatana Dharma that provide us with the proof of existing multiverses, multiple timelines and the looping nature of time.
Kaliyuga and conditions of Puranas
Kaliyuga started 35 years after the great war of Mahabharat, there are many predictions about this yuga that has been written and narrated by various gods and sages. It is said that humans will be at their worst in this yuga, and only about 5100 years of it have passed (out of 4,32,000).
Some of the predictions are: fall of Dharma, false religions, fake brahmins, materialism, sensual gratification will be the only motive of society, marriages will be a hoax, a religious man would rather be outcasted, there will be famines, pandemics, pain and suffering but humans will not stop their horrendous acts, and the religious books will be corrupted.
Most of the Puranas that we read are corrupted in some form or another, it does not mean that everything written in them is useless; but humans have altered them according to their needs, such Puranas include our Vedas, Manusmriti, and various other ones. Hence, it is duly said that man in Kaliyuga should rely on chanting Lord Hari’s name and read Bhagwad Gita for purification and Moksha.
It does not mean that any cultural or religious actions are wrong and unworthy, but with the time passing; even such acts will become superficial in Kaliyuga. People will try to please God only for materialist desires, austerity and ascetics will be long lost.
Some of the existing texts which are unaltered:
Valmiki Ramayana – (but some versions have Uttar-Ramayana which is not qualified to be included in the text). Ramcharitramanus is also widely accepted but some instances in it are not according to Valmiki Ramayana.
Mahabharata by Ved Vyas – (Even it has innumerable versions, but few of the oldest are the most authentic sources to read)
Shrimad Bhagwad Gita – provided by Lord Krishna himself solely for the people of Kaliyuga, it is authentic and most profound text ever written for human moksha (Did you know that Shrimad Bhagwad Gita was first recited to Suryadev?). Hence, not only read these texts and apply them in your life, who knows what Kaliyuga holds next for us? Only the thought of Lord Hanuman and Lord Hari in this yuga is enough to grant you peace and Moksha.
Jai Shree Ram, Jai Shree Mangalmurti Hanuman.
