Kupwara, Sept 26: In an initiative to improve ties with civil population and give them a chance to showcase their talent Chak-Kigam Camp under aegis of Charkut Garrison had started North Kashmir Cricket Tournament at Shumrial on 14 sep 20.
Being played on the lines of T20 format, a total of 16 teams from all over North Kashmir participated to corner the glory of lifting the trophy. After the arduous contest between the participating teams in pre quarters, quarters and semis, it was Team Pattan and Team Bandipora who could manage to sail through the rough tides of the tournament.
After the display of impeccable sportsmanship, team spirit and do or die attitude, it was Team Bandipora which registered its glorifying win over Team Pattan in the grand final.
The grand final culminated with the Chief guest, Brigadier Neeraj Sharma, Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles felicitating the match winning and match changing performers of the North Kashmir Cricket tournament.
Man of the match and Man of the series was bagged by Team Bandipora while best bowler, best batsman was bagged by Team Pattan. It was Team Bandipora which lifted the trophy of grand final while Runners up went to Team Pattan.
The cheering of the crowd was a sight to see and it was their tremendous and loud support which led to their teams achieving such a great feat.
The effort of Army for organizing such a huge event was appreciated by everyone witnessing who were awestruck with the magnanimity of the event and it seems to have become the talk of the town.
