Srinagar : Army on Sunday distributed wheelchairs among the specially-abled persons in Narbal area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The wheelchairs were distributed under the goodwill programme ‘Sadhbhavana’ at Army’s 2 RR in Gagarpora, Narbal in Magam while following COVID-19 SOPs and other protocols.
In a statement, Army said that the distribution event was inaugurated by Commanding Officer 2 RR Batallion (SIKH Ll) Col AS Malik, VSM.
During the event, wheelchairs were distributed among a dozen specially-abled persons.
“While interacting with the beneficiaries, Col AS Malik expressed the hope that the assistance provided by the Army to the specially-abled persons may help them to become self-reliant.
He said there is a need to make these individuals feel that they are an important part of society and can pursue their dreams like others.
Provision of these wheelchairs will boost their morale and inspire them to strive hard in their respective fields, Col Malik said.
The CO also motivated them to work hard and stay active in their lives to achieve their desirable objectives.
The event concluded with a High tea organised for informal interaction with these individuals and their families, where they appreciated the effort by the Army.
