Srinagar, 14 Aug 2020: The Army is reaching out to the communities in far-flung areas of the Kashmir Region through a series of civilian programmes aimed at improving lives of people. During the visit of Lt Gen BS Raju, General officer Commanding, Chinar Corps to Chak-Kigam Camp the locals had projected the requirement of a dental chair at the Primary Health Care Centre Kandi, due to the lack of which the locals were facing lots of hardships. The Chinar Corps Commander took a serious note of the situation and promised the locals that the Army will assist them in solving their problem.Accordingly Army Camp, Chak-Kigam took upon the task of provisioning a Dental chair in PHC Kandi at the earliest. The equipment’s promised have now been placed at Public Health Centre, Kandi within a month in presence of local village elders and medical staff. This will enable the locals to get their treatment done closer to their home. Earlier in the absence of such facilities they had to travel to Handwara and Kupwara for their treatment. These equipment’s will serve as a boon to those who cannot afford to travel and are in their old age.During the event the staff and locals were also presented Health & Hygiene related items. The Health workers have been tirelessly working to serve the population in these difficult times without caring about themselves. The initiative was a small step to improve the living standards and empower the local communities to obtain access to much needed health facilities. This also showcased the care, empathy and resolute of the Army to collectively work towards a healthy Kashmir. The noble gesture of the Army was well appreciated by doctors and village elders.
