Army today, paid a befitting tribute to Late Naik Uttam Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice on 18 April 2020 in Uri sector. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen BS Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of the proud nation.
Late Naik Uttam Singh was leading a patrol along the Line of Control, when he slipped and fell down a deep ravine into a rivulet. He was rescued by his team, provided immediate first aid and evacuated to nearest Field Hospital, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries.
The martyr, Late Naik Uttam Singh, was 34 years old and had joined the Army in 2005. He belonged to Village Gunge Mau of Musafir Khana Tehsil, Sultanpur District in Uttar Pradesh and is survived by his wife and two sons.
The mortal remains of Late Naik Uttam Singh were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and wellbeing.
