Aam Aadmi Party’s Jammu Poonch Lok Sabha constituency president Amit Kapoor has said that the government does not have time to listen to the farmers who have been protesting in many parts of the country for the last 11 months, at least those farmers sould be compensated whose crops have been destroyed due to rain and hailstorm. Kapoor said that due to heavy rains and hailstorm in Jammu region in the past, the crops of the farmers standing in the field were completely destroyed, but instead of giving compensation to the farmers, the government was busy uttering ‘jumlas’. The farmer is currently facing financial crunch. Due to the destruction of the crop, his entire budget got spoiled and now he has no money left to plant the next crop. Now the farmers only hope from the government is that they will be given some compensation so that they will be able to compensate some of their loss, but it is very unfortunate that till now no order has been issued by the government nor has the loss been assessed. If this continues, then the next crop of the farmers will also be affected and it will be a big setback for the farmers who are already going through economic losses. The government should constitute teams to assess the crop loss of farmers and release compensation to them at the earliest. It should also be kept in mind that the compensation should be commensurate with the loss of the farmer so that he can get some help. Amit Kapoor and Sr leader Rajesh Gupta,Joginder Singh Chib (DySp Retd.) said that the government should also talk to the farmers who have been protesting for the demand to repeal the agriculture law for the last several months. These people are the food donors of the country and food donors should be in the fields. But due to the arbitrary attitude of the government, today the farmers are compelled to protest by taking to the streets.
