Today during wee hours, an information was received that some persons alongwith 02 tractors were carrying out illegal excavation and transportation of minerals from nallah sukhnag at village Sail. Accordingly, police party of Police Station Beerwah raided the specific location and seized 02 tractors & arrested 02 persons on spot.The arrested persons have been identified as:
1. Javed Ahmad Parray S/O Gulam Muhammad R/O Zoogipora Khag
2. Firdous Ahmad Gazi S/O Muhammad Fatah R/O Nursinghpora Khag
Similarly, Police station Magam received an information about illegal excavation and transportation of minerals at Rudbugh area of Budgam. Accordingly, police party of Police Station Magam raided the specific location and seized 01JCB, 01Tipper and arrested 02 drivers on spot . The arrested drivers were subsequently identified as:-
01. Abid Nabi Bhat S/O Gh Nabi Bhat R/O Rathsuna Beerwah
02. Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh S/O Mohd Yousuf Sheikh R/O Sozeith
Case FIR numbers 163/2022 and 174/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police station Beerwah and Police Station Magam respectively and investigation set into motion.
During current year as many as 231 persons were arrested and 204 vehicles were seized for illegal excavation and transportation of minerals in district Budgam.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt with as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
