Coronavirus in India: India sees lowest daily rise in 54 days with 1.27 lakh Covid cases
1 June 2021: India on Tuesday registered its lowest daily Covid cases in at least 54 days as the country logged 1.27 lakh infections in the past 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry, while the active cases have dropped below 20 lakh after 43 days. As the declining trend continues, the Covid positivity rate has dropped to 6.62 per cent, the health ministry said.
Not only daily Covid-19 cases, India also saw its lowest number of deaths in five weeks as 2,795 patients succumbed to the virus. India’s active caseload has declined below 20 lakh after 43 days. There are 18,95,520 active cases in the country.
In a single day, 2,55,287 people were declared recovered, according to the health ministry. The daily recoveries continue to outnumber the new Covid cases for 19 successive days.
“The recovery rate continues to increase, at 92.09 per cent today. The weekly positivity rate is currently pegged at 8.64 per cent and the daily positivity rate has dipped to 6.62 per cent,” the Union health ministry said.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 34,67,92,257 samples have been tested so far. Of which, 19,25,374 samples were tested yesterday.
The top five states that have registered the maximum cases are Tamil Nadu with 27,936 cases, followed by Karnataka with 16,604 cases, Maharashtra with 15,077 cases, Kerala with 12,300 cases and West Bengal with 10,137 cases.
Of the 1.27 lakh Covid cases, 64.35 per cent were reported from these five states. The highest number of daily cases were reported from Tamil Nadu as it contributed 21.91 per cent to the daily load.
