DPEO Kupwara reviews security, other arrangements for Phase-II

Magistrates, Poll staff, material dispatched for Reddi Chowkibal, Ramhal DDC constituencies

Kupwara, 30 Nov : District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kupwara, Anshul Garg today convened a meeting to review the arrangements put in place for smooth conduct of Phase-II election being held tomorrow in 02 DDC constituencies of Reddi Chowkibal and Ramhal along with Panchayat By-election on vacant seats of Sapanches and Panches.

SSP Kupwara, Shri Ram Ambarkar; SSP Handwara; ADC Kupwara, Nazir Ahmad Lone; SDM Lolab, ARTO, all zonal and sectoral magistrates for phase-II, all police zonal and sectoral officers for phase-II were present in the meeting.

On the occasion, the DPEO said that the purpose of the meeting is to sensitize and coordinate the police & civil magistrates (zonal and Sectoral) to ensure free and fair conduct of the election. He directed the magistrates and officers to reach their polling destinations by 4PM today and ensure polling starts at 7AM sharp in the morning and shall close at 02 PM on tomorrow (December 01).

The DPEO also directed that counting of the votes for Sarpanches and Panches shall be ensured in the same polling station while as, the ballot papers of DDC candidates should be send to concerned Strong Room for its safeguard. He stressed upon the concerned to ensure votes are casted only as per panchayat electoral roll in by-election.

The DPEO further said that the counting of votes for Panchayat by-election should be held in presence of concerned AROs and contesting candidates.

SSP Kupwara, on the occasion also spoke and gave detailed guideline to the police, zonal and sectoral officers to coordinate with the magistrates and ensure proper discipline and timing. He also briefed them about induction and de-induction of parties and follows the mandate of security of polling staff, polling material, security of candidates and counting centres.

ADC Kupwara asked the concerned officers to ensure level playing field for all contesting parties for fair & smooth election in the district.

Meanwhile, the polling parties and polling material for conduct of DDC election in Reddi Chowkibal and Ramhaal has been dispatched today from District Police Lines Kupwara and ITI Handwara. The concerned ROs and Nodal officers supervised the distribution of the polling staff and material.
