EID -UL – FITR USHERS RENEWED WARMTH & HARMONY ON LINE OF CONTROL AS OLD TRADITION IS REVIVED
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr , the tradition of exchanging sweets between India & Pak on major festivals like Eid, Holi, Diwali and respective national days was revived and a meeting was held at the historic Tithwal crossing on Kishanganga river to exchange sweets and pleasantries. Off late, the bridge at Tithwal has been a key enabler for such peace meetings. The newly achieved calm along the LoC as a result of ceasefire agreement has brought warmth which has been displayed on several occasions between the two neighbours. Exchange of inadvertently crossed over youth on three occasions in the last two months at the zero line in Tithwal have been high points of the prevalent peace along the LoC.
The sweet exchange is a gesture appreciated by both countries and is expected to go a long way in promoting peace, harmony and compassion in the true spirit of the festival with a hope of better future ahead. The event was also appreciated by civil population on either sides of Line of Control. The exchange was held at 1135 AM today with adherence to all COVID Protocols by both sides.
