Exchange of gunfire along LoC in Poonch, after Pak provokes

The armies of India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged gunfire along Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch sector, after Pakistan’s ceasefire violation officials said.

Officials said that on that on Tuesday morning at about 11 AM, ceasefire violation started in Poonch sector with Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked firing using both small arms as well mortar shells.
They said that after more than three hours of intense firing and shelling, there was a brief lull in the firing. But, as per the officials, the cross fire along LoC resumed in the evening at around 5 PM again.
“Since 5 PM, intense shelling is going on in the area and Shahpur, Kirni, Qasba and other nearby villages of Poonch sector are affected with shelling,” officials said, adding that no loss of life or injury was reported till late evening.
Lieutenant Colonel Devander Anand, Indian Army’s PRO from Jammu, said that “Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms and shelling with mortars along LoC.”
