Srinagar, Aug 13 : The Jammu and Kashmir administration has decided to release former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti from detention after 14 months .
Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former CM of J&K, was put under detention on the eve of abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 on August 5 last year.
“Ms. Mehbooba Mufti being released,” Rohit Kansal, government spokesman said in a tweet.
Sources said that the government revoked her PSA detention order of February 5 which was extended by three months on 31-7-2020.
Reacting to the news of the former CM’s release, her daughter Iltija Mufti tweeted: “As Ms Mufti’s illegal detention finally comes to an end, Id like to thank everybody who supported me in these tough times. I owe a debt of gratitude to you all. This is Iltija signing off. May allah protect you”.
