Srinagar : In view of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, the government Wednesday cancelled pending board examinations of 11th and 12th classes of session 2020-21.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha said that the step was taken for the safety and well-being of the students.
The LG office on its micro blogging site Twitter said, “In view of safety and well-being of students due to COVID-19 pandemic, all pending JKBOSE Examinations session 2020-21 (Regular/Private) for final exams of class XI and XII across JKUT for which examination/results are awaited, are cancelled.”
It also said that the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) will notify the detailed mechanism for assessment of the pending exams.
“The detailed procedure for publishing results along with a scheme of marking will be completed by JKBOSE shortly,” the government said.
In the meantime, the officials of BOSE said the exams that were cancelled were of 11th and 12th standard of summer division Jammu.
He said, “Of 12th standard regular exams in the Jammu division, BOSE had conducted exams of some of the papers while others couldn’t be held due to the surge in COVID-19 cases that compelled the government to cancel it.”
“In case of 11th standard exams of the Jammu division, no exams of any paper were held so far and the government today ordered cancellation of the regular and private exams of both the classes,” the official said.
