New Delhi: Hours after PDP president Mehbooba Mufti raised doubts over the authenticity of the encounter in the Rambagh area in which three terrorists were killed, Jammu & Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh said there are people who have started looking at killers as innocent people.
There are people who understand the reality but try to say something which is away from reality, he said.
Three terrorists including a self-styled commander of terror outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), wanted in the recent civilian killings in the city, were gunned down by security forces on Wednesday.
Addressing a press conference, the DGP said that an SIT has been constituted and that he can say with full authority that the police is doing professional work.
“Our officers know how to conduct operations. An investigation is in progress which is suggesting that there’s a terrorist and terror network around him supporting him, Singh said on the Hyderpora encounter.
He further said that after the killings of civilians dozens of successful operations took place, over 20 terrorists have been gunned down.
“All terrorists, who were involved in the recent civilian killings, have been killed in these encounters. Only one terrorist, Basit is on the run and search to nab him is on Search is on,” he said.
On smuggling of drugs in J&K, Singh said that in some incidents, drones were used by Pakistan to smuggle narcotics to this side.
During the investigation, a huge interstate connection of the drug mafia was unearthed. Jammu Police & Kashmir Police did commendable work, he said.
On Wednesday, Mufti had urged the Centre to restore Article 370 and Article 35A and said that Kashmir cannot be kept with the country by using muscle power.
