In light of the inadequate revenue collection despite consistently providing a dependable power supply during severe winters, several branches of JPDCL have initiated an extensive disconnection campaign targeting high-profile and persistent delinquent customers.
“In the first place, connections of 1,156 consumers were disconnected to sensitize the masses to develop habits of paying electricity bills in time,” a JPDCL spokesperson said.
He said, “Presently, JPDCL is overburdened with huge arrears on account of domestic electricity dues of around 900 crore, however, under the Amnesty Scheme, JPDCL has collected more than seventy crores and more than fifty thousand consumers have taken benefit of the amnesty scheme”.
“The disconnection drive is being carried out against those household defaulters who are yet to take the benefit of amnesty scheme, commercial establishments and defaulting Industries”.
“All consumers in general and defaulters, in particular, are advised to clear their electricity outstanding dues or avail Amnesty Scheme without further delay and help JPDCL to avoid the inconvenience to consumers by the act of disconnection of their power supply,” the spokesperson added.
