Major General RK Sachdeva took over as the additional director general (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) directorate for the Union Territories (UTs) of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh, a defence spokesman said.
PRO defence, Jammu, Lt Col Devender Anand said, “Major General RK Sachdeva was commissioned into the Madras Sappers on 13 Jun 1987”.
“The officer has served in varied terrain and holds multiple military qualifications and also attended many prestigious courses in Army,” Col Anand said, adding, “In his 36 years of distinguished service, the officer has tenanted prestigious command and Staff assignments, including tenures in active operational areas”.
“He has held several positions within the Indian Army, including Colonel General Staff at Army Training Command and Head of a training team at the College of Military Engineering in Pune. He has also served as Chief Engineer of a strike corps, Chief Engineer of the Bathinda Zone, Commander of the Faculty of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at CME, and Commander of the Madras Engineer Group, Bangaluru”.
Col Anand added that Sachdeva had been bestowed with the chief of the Army Staff Commendation Card twice while serving with the Army training command and strike corps, respectively for his excellent work on the Unit’s commander Manual, operational planning and command-level operational exercise.
“The officer takes up the position during a period of significant changes in the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as Ladakh. The NCC has also redirected its attention towards enrolling young people from the border regions of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh”.
