Srinagar, 28th August: Jammu Kashmir Workers Party President, Mir Junaid called on the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha on Friday at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar.
In an hour long meeting Mir Junaid talked about various issues of the public. Mir congratulated Manoj Sinha on his appointment as the Lieutenant Governor of J&K and also conveyed that hopes of 12 million people of Jammu and Kashmir are with the his office.
Mir Junaid presented a number of issues that called for the attention of the LG. Mir told the LG that the economy of the Union Territory due to the extended lockdown has been affected badly and needs impetus at various points for it to get back on track. Mir stressed on the losses incurred upon the tourism and horticulture industries and asked for special packages to help the people involved in these sectors in getting back on feet.
Mir also raised the issues of students of J&K and made the LG aware about the catastrophic impact on the education sector since August 5th 2019.
Mir also informed the Lieutenant Governor about the disability of the student community in filling application forms for various national universities due to slow internet speed and requested him to ask for the reopening of the application process for the students of Jammu and Kashmir to various universities outside J&K.
Mir spoke on behalf of the Gujjar Bakarwal community of J&K as well and asked for the enforcement of the Forest Act 2006.
Mir also spoke with the LG on the issue of unemployment among the youth of J&K and requested for faster announcement of jobs for the youth of J&K. Mir also took up the issue of the absorption of programme officers for MNREGA in rural development subsequent to amendment in J&K RDD rules notified wide SRO 178 of 2007.
Mir also spoke about the issue of Kashmiri Pandits and their resettlement in their homeland and requested the Lieutenant Governor to fasten the planning process for their safe and dignified return. Mir also thanked the LG for his fastening of the pending projects in the hands of administration.
Mir took up the issue of women empowerment and requested the LG for an aggressive promotion of women empowerment schemes in Jammu and Kashmir. He also discussed with the LG about the conditions of grass root level workers and the need to enhance their security.
Mir while talking to the Lieutenant Governor also spoke about the damage of houses caused during encounters and requested for relief to the house owners who were found innocent.
Talking about the conditions of BPL populations due to the pandemic, Mir pressed for free ration supplies to BPL population till the end of this year.
Mir raised the concerns of local miners of Jammu and Kashmir and asked for reservation over the utilisation of resources of the UT for locals due to the fragility of its economy.
Mir also requested the LG about the starting of the investment of private sector in Jammu and Kashmir for increase in the employment opportunities among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
