Local media endorses the Pakistani agenda and finds difficult to report reality: Mir
Srinagar, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party President Mir Junaid condemns the reporting of local newspapers that did not report the events that took place in Srinagar on 22nd October, 2020.
He expresses his disappointment with the local newspapers that are not doing their job sincerely. The newspapers had their reporters on the location of the protest site and yet did not give space to the story in the newspapers.
This is total corruption on part of the newspapers which are acting as information providers to the society. The job of the media is to convey information to the people and any hiding of information which is of significance to the people shows the character of media as biased.
The protest march against Pakistan was a first thing to happen over the last 70 years of history of Jammu and Kashmir and the editorial teams of these papers could not find the abnormality and news value in the story is a shocking thing.
The media’s obsession with the Gupkar declaration parties is inexplicable as the statements that are being covered have no new outcomes and yet the media wants to stick to the hollow claims of the old political parties as something news worthy.
The historical march that took place on 22nd October, 2020 was in protest to the Pakistani invasion of 1947 of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. The reluctance shown by local media in reporting this activity makes it clear that the local media is a party to the chaos that has been rampant in Jammu and Kashmir over past thirty years.
It is high time for self introspection of the media as the protest march even raised the issue of the security of the journalists who had recently been alleged of being collaborators by the Pakistan proxy organisations and yet the media wants to cater to the internal Pakistani bias they have.
This shows that that media is not acting responsibly and in the garb of neutrality is serving the interests of the enemy state of Pakistan.
Jammu and Kashmir Workers Party wants to openly expose this internal bias within the local media houses who through dishonest reporting are acting as hurdles to the information access of the society. The dishonesty in reporting shows dishonesty in journalism which openly is a violation
of journalistic ethics and responsibilities.
