Municipal Council Chairman Bandipora Khurseed Ahmad on Saturday called for complete eradication of polythene use in Bandipora Town.
Khursheed Ahmad stressed upon the people to eradicate the polythene menace from Bandipora town while launching an extensive anti-polythene campaign.
The campaign would be extensive and sustainable having a focus not only on reduce, reuse, recycle but also on removing polythene from day to day routine. “Refuse taking, stocking or selling polythene and also to report i.e. provide information to the concerned authorities on finding a person selling, stocking or carrying polythene bag,” Chairman MCB said.
Besides the general public, Khurseed Ahmad requested Shopkeepers, students and people from all walks of society to come forward and join the cause as it is the collective and social responsibility of one and all to save our Bandipora town from the hazardous polythene menace.
The Chairman, MCB said that “polythene and other single-use plastics are extremely harmful to the environment and public health.”
He urged upon traders and shoppers as well to avoid the use of polythene in the city. “No one shall sell goods in polythene or prohibited plastic bags. No one shall stock or hoard prohibited polythene or single-use plastics and No one shall use or carry goods in bags made of prohibited polythene or single-use plastic products,” he said.
Chairman MCB Khurseed Ahmad advised the people to spread the message of cleanliness among the masses. He also appealed to cooperate with Municipal Council Bandipora in keeping in Bandipora clean and green and avoid using polythene carry bags, use dustbins/containers installed in their area.
Meanwhile, MCB Chairman appeals to all the people of Bandipora to cooperate with MCB to safeguard the ever deteriorating environmental health and beauty of Bandipora. He stressed to follow the guideline issued in the public interest in view of Covid-19 like maintaining social distancing, wearing of masks, frequent washing of hands etc.
