JAMMU: The Management of Dul-Hasti Power Station, NHPC Limited has cautioned general public of districts Doda and Kishtwar and public of villages Dul, Benzwar, Cherhar, Bhandarkot, Hasti, Kandani, Prem Nagar and Pul Doda not to move near river Chenab on Friday (July 7) from 11 pm to Saturday ( July 8) till 6 pm, as the gates of Dul-Hasti Power Station Dam shall be opened for reservoir flushing during this period.

A spokesman of the NHPC said that the Dam gates of Dul-Hasti Power Station will be opened for reservoir flushing on July 7 from 23:00 hrs to July 8 (Saturday) till 18:00 hrs. During this period the water level of river Chenab may rise to 2 to 3 meters in the downstream areas of the river.

Therefore, the people residing near and in the downstream areas of river Chenab, are being cautioned to refrain from moving themselves/their cattle/trucks and tippers near the banks of river Chenab to avoid any mishap and to co-operate for the safety of their lives.

“Anybody violating the request shall be doing so at his/her own risk and responsibility and NHPC/Management of Dul-Hasti Power Station shall not be responsible for the consequences”, the spokesman added.
