Heavy downpour from the skies means trouble as far as the hilly and mountainous places and the only option is the defiant fight to rescue the people in this vicious entrapment by Mother Nature! The Indian army soldiers were yet again at it in the thick of things!
‘People hate it when storm clouds roll in, heralded by dazzling claps of thunder and lightning that boast an ocean of tears. This majestic performance of bad temper manages to overshadow mankind’s pathetic attempts at pushing lips or one’s bottom lip forward as an expression of petulant annoyance. No one broods like Mother Nature, hence she steals all the attention and leaves every one sulking as to why this happened as walls of water rise in down slope rivers, rivulets and streamlets. This was not the first time it was happening in Nowshera and neither was it the first time when the troops got into a highly energized mood to salvage the situation’.
‘When the mother is in a great mood then everything looks good and we all sing lyrics such as come with me into the woods where spring is advancing, as it does, no matter what, not being singular or particular, but one of the forever gifts, and certainly visible. Mother Nature is always one step ahead when it comes to beauty. She’s quite the artist. But when angry she unleashes an arsenal that can devour humanity and almost all of us raise our folded hands towards the heavens with the age-old thought that it is there where the Goddess sits. We walk all over on its just creation, the earth but it never complains of being a doormat. So we give it the highest title of love, adoration and family: praising it for mothering every species and the whole of all humanity. But who cares if the human attitude is another of the great creations, probably the strongest yet the weakest in small frivolities. This has been proven time and again in the eras that have gone by and will be proven to infinity and eternity till the planet exists because the future too at times loves to rest to re-gather thoughts about evolution! With extinction of species always at the top agenda’. By all practicality, the future can only be only imagined in imaginary analysis, perhaps as a myth’
‘We’re so self-important. So arrogant. Everybody’s going to save something now. Save the trees, save the bees, save the whales, save the snails. And the supreme arrogance? Save the planet! Are these people kidding? Save the planet? We don’t even know how to take care of ourselves; we haven’t learned how to care for one another. We’re gonna save this planet? . . . And, by the way, there’s nothing wrong with the planet in the first place. The planet is fine. The people are brainwise screwed! Compared with the people, the planet is doing great. It’s been here over four billion years . . . The planet isn’t going anywhere, folks. We are! We’re going away. Pack your stuff, we’re going away. And we won’t leave much of a trace. Thank God for that. Nothing left. Maybe a little Styrofoam (trademarked brand of closed-cell extruded polystyrene foam (XPS), commonly called Blue Board, manufactured as foam continuous building .The planet will be here, and we’ll be gone. Another failed mutation; another closed-end biological mistake.’ The same went for species and Homo Sapiens too are by the way school lessons do teach us something about extinction of species’.
This is a story of a rescue mission carried out by Indian Army a couple of days back when Mother Nature was roaring and the Goddess laughing! Artemis the Greek lady, Goddess Prithvi is the Hindu Goddess of Earth, Diana in Roman religion, Joro is the personification of earth and a goddess in Norse mythology, there are several interpretations by the people, they do get angry if believed down the ages the wrath falls on the living beings. It has happened and will keep happening. But still humans, the children of lesser Gods the humans of course have to be saved but how? By the human God’s in the form of men in olive greens and Khakis! The mission begins! It began yet again in Nowshera where the wrath and the curse by the Goddesses struck yet again!
Indian Army at Lam Nowshera are always in the service of the Nation and Public. Lam may be a speck of a place in the hills yet a part of global humanity stays here also and they invariably have suffered from the wrath as skies are torn apart by Goddesses of Nature. Some names I gave above but there could be infinite ones. As a reminder I will yet again retell an incident:
‘This happened in 2014 and Lam was the place in Rajouri where a tragedy was to befall and no one knew what would be the timing set. Whatever the unknown time it was set by nature as the weapon to be unleashed had been already set, timing none of the human beings also referred to as experts knew and suddenly something terrible happened.
At least 50 people, who formed part of a marriage party (Baraat) were washed out. The Police at that time confirmed, bus carrying over 50 passengers from Nowshera to Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir was swept away by the flash floods. Jammu Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu said, ‘there was a bus carrying a marriage party which was going from Nowshera to Rajouri. In a place called Lam, they were washed away by flash floods. There were three survivors. As per their statements, there were more than 50 passengers inside the bus which fell deep down the gorge’, He further said ‘our rescue team is very much there, the army is there, we are trying to recover the bus and the passengers. So far due to bad weather and the depth of the gorge, we are not able to take them out.’ The Divisional Commissioner of Jammu also indicated his fear about the chances of passengers lives in danger because of bad weather and the depth of the gorge. His exact words were ‘there is very much a likelihood of that, but unless we recover everything, we cannot say,’ By all means it was ghastly! But fortunately no such incident took place in Lam but yesterday the situation was similar as the downhill water ways’!
When you go to say hello to nature, put every redundant sound away, for nature is music, and that alone should suffice.
Couple of days back the skies screamed and flash flood and heavy rains came down in a threatening way and as a result hundreds of people were trapped as water walls rose to frightening heights. The humans were at their wits ends but some were not. I do not think that much guess work is required to find out who they were because they can be only from one family, ‘the family of olive greens’. For them it was yet again a challenge. The troops from Lam led by their commanding officer worked selflessly during the entire day in rescuing and evacuating the public to safer sites thus saving many precious lives. They were fighting waters on a menace and this is not an easy task because it tends to chase you every constrictor to gobble up everything in its way of the hissing flow. This act of Indian army has been really appreciated across the communities and Indian Army has been praised wholesomely. It had to be by all means!
Here is something for the readers to think about. This little girl knew the shapes of all the trees, still some seemed to dart here and there, moving with the moon. For a while she was so stiff she couldn’t swallow, but on cue, the familiar songs of tree frogs and katydids (insects in the family Tettigoniidae are commonly called katydids) filled the night. More comforting than three blind mice with a carving knife. The darkness held an odor of sweetness, the earthy breath of frogs and salamanders who would have made it through one more stinky-hot day for a cooler night. The marsh snuggled in closer with a low fog, and she slept in this dream. And slept forever as she got washed in what we call a flash flood, never to be found again! What a terrible idea! Save the environment at least now is the only message for the people of Hilly Districts in UT Jammu and Kashmir!
