This is yet another one from Surankote and it is for the eyes of the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inderjeet!
It has been seen or rather is being seen that a new man is thought to be a man of high degree substance. In district Poonch, (first torn apart by the noises of ballistics and now very loud whispers of corruption have been observed and heard. The officials come with high quality decibels but later get subside and get submerged by routine affairs. For what exactly is not discernible since they are the ones who are the best judge of the people and more importantly about their own capabilities.
This is yet another story of promises made in Surankote. The people know that nothing worthwhile would happen yet the hope persists big time and hope is everything on which either governance or administration survives.
I also hope that nothing wrong I have said because this is again a fact where people are used to being just scavenged upon.
Incidentally this is about cleanliness as storms of rotten fragrance blow over Surankote!
The only way to give a bad idea a real chance to publicly fail is to hear it and then use facts to eviscerate it. Sorry to use the word eviscerate but I had a reason to do so because it means to deprive in this case people of vital content or force or to remove an organ from (a patient) or the contents of (an organ). Medically it may not be true in the case of people staying in a beautiful place called Surankote but administratively they still are deprived of the basic facilities which the humans need from governance and administration. We have all the reasons for saying so because a bad idea of corruption does not augur for the future. Past has gone, the present will soon be but the future! Aha! No one knows about it and that is what the people say!
This story is about hygiene and sanitation in Sub Division Surankote. Things are bad from a cleanliness point of view. Not to worry we are not speaking out of our hats but this is a reality. Municipal officials of Surankote should know that the scale of the mess we leave behind is proportionate to the level of respect we have for others. This is what the people wanted to convey!
No one starts with a bad idea. It is always good to begin with but it all happens subsequently so the administration should take time to reflect, let ideas flow on their own schedule and let themselves have numerous bad ideas to inspire the good ones. Surankote never saw the good ones happening. They could not have if the contents of this letter from the people is read in between the lines and the pathos understood! This one was addressed to the Deputy Commissioner with all humbleness and hope:
We are the inhabitants of village Samote Ward No-2 near Jogi Morh on the Byepass Surankote.
We are suffering badly due to the bad condition of the link road from Jogi Morh to Datta house, almost 800 mtrs. This is the main link that connects us to the main town Surankote.
Obviously the people want convenience. If a Bye Pass has been made then obviously the sub-arterial roads have to be cleaned up and thus the population that has been bye passed remains on a limbo because of the trash that gets accumulated.
Abandoned places are the ones where you find max filth and muck and the road head here is basically full of muck, stink and stench.
The people get off the buses at Bypass and use this link road to reach the main town. Throwing waste material at the take off and boarding off place invariably creates blockages and in the rainy seasons the situation turns ugly and smelly and the are disease loaded times.
Complaints to the municipality office have been made in abundance, but they have not taken any appropriate action in this regard. Despite being informed they yet far have not moved. They should be told to do that. But who will do so? In Surankote at least no one!
Therefore the people want the top man of district administration to intervene and give the necessary instructions to the department concerned.
Surankote once upon a time was a very healthy place to stay with a health wise expansive environment. At the moment it is not and is becoming an extension of Poonch where heaps of garbage and human litter can be found in mounds.
It’s a job of the Municipal Council but whether they know as to what has to be done or not at least I have no idea.
But they should be having plenty of them as far as cleanliness goes, At the moment that is not so the case. Indeed a bad idea!
I’d have refused to write this piece but considering the grasp of the officials in the Surankote municipality zone I thought why not take a chance because I’m very sure that they are clear on the fundamentals of the roads and its cleanliness. On second thoughts I wrote this down, which probably you would have read above because in this case the environment is up for a toss and so is the air in Surankote that does not have the same kind of freshness as it used to once upon a time. The small hillocks of garbage are not at all pleasant for eyes and nose so the piling on the waste ought to be stopped so that the area remains a safe health zone.
The question now is how to prepare young people in the municipality Surankote to work because they are being paid to do that. The people are clearly dissatisfied otherwise I would not have brought this information forward. To work for the people isn’t that a bad idea? And one thing more bad ideas like shying from don’t work cannot be ever good. The people are well informed today! They know the mechanics of governance! And more so because this is till the time of the pandemic which we conveniently forget till the time the incubating virus strikes again!
