Hearken “Chinar” and the mind starts wandering through snow capped mountains, lush green meadows and pristine clearwaters. The wanderer inside us gets eager to capture all this beauty within himself . One becomes a naughty child running through fields chasing the beautiful butterfly, symbolic of playful nature ……
Such is the beauty of Kashmir. The beauty which floats while enjoying a Shikhara Ride.. Ones heart flutters with each oar when it touches the water of the lake. The melody of the sound where the oar meets the water as if 2 souls singing in a symphony. Such is the place which fills everyones heart with love and eyes with beauty. Not only the place but the people here are also beautiful, from outside and inside . The toothless grin of the Shikhara person or the naughty kids who run after you in the fields of Sonmarg, maked one enthralled. Kashmiri people are known for their hospitality, ever smiling ready to embrace you as their own. No Kashmiri household is complete without piping hot Khawa and a Kangadi to keep you warm in the harsh winter months. The lanes of Kashmir are adorned with the beautiful Chinar trees which change shades, like the moods of a beautiful woman, from being Coy to showering love and then fading in the flames of anger to again a smiling, mesmerising beauty.
Kangadi, Khawa and Chinar is the amalgamation of 2 cultures which reside here. The core essence of both of these communities is to spread peace and love. There are some notorious elements who want to break these beautiful bonds . In the name of supremacy of their religion over others they have started atrocities towards the local minority community. They fail to understand that these people whom they target are an essential part of their own identity and existence. There are elements who brain wash youngsters from one community into thinking that it’s only them who are bestowed with the divine right to stay in this land as it belongs to them. This self centredness has turned these youngsters into heinous criminals. By claiming themselves as rehnuma of the masses, young blood is pushed towards path of violence either by indoctrination or threat. A trend has started again of targeting Kashmiri Pandits and even non local labourers who come to the valley in search of a livelihood living.
These are the few brave Pandits who, despite facing the atrocities of 89 still chose to remain here, after all this is their home. They have been an integral part of this social fabric . Pumping bullets in them is no show of strength or supremacy but just an act of cowardice. They fail to understand that taking lives of innocent people from this community wont win them the Trophy called Kashmir. In the game of cricket, one side wins and the other loses, but in the match of life called Kashmir, there is no Winner. Because There are no 2 different teams it’s just 1 team called Kashmiriyat.
As a community of the revered Kashmiri Muslims, we have a responsibility towards our Kashmiri Pandits brethren. As a society, we should raise our voices against these killings. Why should a Kashmiri Pandit or a non local labourer become ‘Wajibul Qatl’ or be at the receiving end of a bullet , just to stay or earn in his own land? As a citizen the Great Nation Nation of India,as a descendent of the Indic Civilization, He has the same right as Kashmiri Muslims, to make his home where his heart his within the boundaries of India. He has right to earn his living with respect. Who are these rehnumas to direct their so called cleansers to get rid of these innocent people?
Every single human being who believes in the Right to Live should raise their voice against these killings. The voice should not just be a slogan which is raised to protest but it should be the thunder which should roar in the ears of each and every killer. Strict punishment should be given so that no one dares to try to bring the fear of 90s back in minds of these innocent people
Kashmiriyat is the Khawa of the spices and Kesar of love of both Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims. The Kangadi is the warmth of tolerance for each others religion and culture and the Chinar is the shade where the children of both these communities be sheltered with love and they grow together as the Chinar grows……
Harmony love and tolerance is the ingredients that will make this Kahwa sweet add warmth in the Kangadi and spread shade of Chinar
