=’We titled the story ‘It’s unfortunate to be born poor! But now the most fortunate as Force Romeo came to his rescue!’

-‘The Romeos who love to romance with the poor did something for a country lad Mehfooz that no one else could! We just scripted the story leaving the climax aside though with an end line, ’If Mehfooz could be helped. He was and he is fine today. From wheelchair on his own legs and working in a confectionary shop has been a dream run and it is all due to the big contribution to a life by one and only one the Romeos who believe in only one thing ‘we are born to help the good and eradicate the evil! That is precisely what they have done in Rajouri and Poonch!

-‘This for a poor man like Mehfooz, life would have been impossible with bruised legs but it became a possibility when he got a wheelchair to move about because hands are there as big supplements to play the support role!’

-‘The excerpts of the story were: Many would say it was humanitarian aid? But how many came to give him that! Worth consideration, I think it that way! But someone acted faster than the others! If you can’t get a miracle, become one. If I fail, I try again, and again, and again. If you fail, are you going to try again? This was a question before Mehfooz. Three weeks back (at that time in 2021) he was a boy who had no idea as to where he was heading towards. But then by default, he gate crashed into some people who totally believed in survival of humanity in the regions which are very dangerous and were extremely so till February. Mehfooz stayed in one of such areas and was running out of hope. But the men from the Indian Army made sure that the kite line which this boy was holding on to stayed with him since he was flying the kite with a dream written all over it!The dream had to be nothing but to move around! The Indian Army proved one thing to be certain that it is humanity that is the religion to be followed. Mehfooz was just another human being, many would have thought so but it is still one man and one incident that changes lives of humans. He had nowhere to go but still had a door open, rather flung open when just a story we carried seeing the precarious condition of the boy who had just lived the first two decades of his life and suddenly found that he could not move! The Indian Army ensured that he did and is now in a wheelchair, scrambling about to work was family! The human spirit can handle much worse than we realize. It matters how you are going to finish. Are you going to finish strong? Mehfooz in this episode of the lives of people in J&K did! We never knew that a small story could become big but this one did! Courtesy yet again Indian Army! Big wars are won on the fronts (that is with the enemy), some are fought in the own back yard which indeed are won but some emotions do flare up, ‘after all an own kid gone wrong did not deserve such a death but some are won on the biggest possible frontier. That is about humans. Mehfooz just wanted his legs repaired so that he could move about, instead he got wheels to travel around’! I need not spell it now as to who did it, ‘The romanticists and Romeos in the art of insurgency warfare’!

I. These are a few highlights of the story which we wrote:

Brother of six sisters two of them dead, a kid who could have done well in life because of poverty, tried running the house by blisters and abscesses on two thighs that have rendered him incapacitated!

-By the way he has just seen 20 years of life and that is not long by any means!

– He had no reference nor he had any idea to the kind of anguish that comes with destitution, that is so endlessly bitter and cruel, and yet so sordid and petty, so ugly, so humiliating, unredeemed by the slightest touch of dignity or even of pathos. It is a kind of anguish that poets have not commonly dealt with; it’s very words are not admitted into the vocabulary of poets or writers, the details of it cannot be told in polite society at all and what he in any case tells is that he has no money for bandages and ointments.

– Yes there exists a sub-district health care unit in Mendhar. Though it looks like it is working fine, more often than not it does have drugs that can immediately cure it and thus the patients have to rush to the medicos. Prices are exorbitant and the poor cannot pay, especially so the people living in the border towns. The health care scenario if we have a look at Mehfooz Ahmed resident of Gohlad Mendhar, who is moving about but check out on his flannels, in all probability you will pus stuck on to the cloth and flies and mosquitoes hover around or over him as and when he tries to take a break after a painful walk!

-Mehfooz sat lost and forlorn and he is convinced that one day he too would perish like any other mortal but his only regret is that he was just born two decades back and is one of the nine children his father produced who himself is a defunct man since he is handicapped. This is what can be said as a double whammy by destiny: the answers to which no human can ever have obviously Mehfooz could not have had!

-Amongst the brothers and sisters he was just another kid. Living in penury ensured he could not study and the stomach urged that it needed food. But he was not the only one. He did become an earning member but had to ease out of that because his fragile legs came under the onslaught of skin diseases. His thighs and calf muscles are perilously poised and he cannot afford treatment. In short this is the wretched life he is leading and there is no one in the household he can bank upon. He cannot get on to electronic media and the big channels to flash his pictures along with his predicament asking people to donate and the locals well they do but that is not enough! But someone read this story and the man was from Force Romeo. They may have many logos but I have coined one for them. ‘The romanticists and unforgettable Romeos of Pir Panjal’s’! The massive Pir Panjal had to be playing the name of Juliet, if I was Shakespeare trying to create a scenic version of the story! By the way I know the story of Verona but this was not an entertainment theatre! It was a colosseum of insurgency where bullets flew! They still do but just occasionally!

But today I saw a picture, a kid where the same kid was on his two legs. That was great. The earning man was back to business and working for his family. Today the boys like Mehfooz should be knowing a few things, the first is Indian Army is there for help but if wrong especially those with the index finger on the trigger they would be dealt with accordingly but still, I have a message to convey to kids gone astray never say the hope is lost becauseI have never met a bitter person who was thankful. Or a thankful person who was bitter. Do understand what I mean! The Indian Army will always say that we encourage you to accept that you may not be able to see a path right now, but that doesn’t mean it’s not there. I have just recreated the words but since words are forgotten they do not mean much to the ordinary but to the wise they do, I told this story! For many perhaps it would mean nothing but for most perhaps everything! Just a throw of a dice in a rice field of Mendhar so that youth get into a mode that shows spirit! That is the reason that the Indian Army stands out because they care and this is just with one motive! Get this and future generations moving ahead with times! The best thing is that the youth are with them all the way!
