Poonch, February 23: Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, Inder Jeet, who is also the District Election Officer(DEO), today chaired a meeting to discuss arrangements for ‘Voter Awareness Contest, My Vote is my Future-Power of One Vote’ being held to reiterate the importance of every vote through creative expression.
The District Election Officer said the Election Commission of India’s Systematic Voters Awareness Education and Electoral participation (SVEEEP) recently launched ‘Voter Awareness Contest’ to create awareness among the people about the importance of voting in a democracy.
The Deputy Commissioner said that this programme is to leverage talent and creativity of citizens and spread electoral awareness. He said that the event will have five different contests like Quiz, Slogan writing, Singing competition, Video Making and Poster designing without any age bar. He also said the participants can contest in three different categories i.e; Institutional Category, Professional Category, and Amateur for singing, Video Making and Poster Design contests. Prize money will also be awarded to all the winners.
The Deputy District Election Officer, Shashi Bala informed that the entries will be accepted till March 15, 2022, on the email id: [email protected] along with details of the participant. The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned officers/EROs to “disseminate the message of the importance of every vote and encourage students, youth and common people to come forward and ensure maximum participation in all the contests.
Similarly, the CEO Education was asked to take necessary measures for organizing the contest. He directed for ensuring school wise details of the participants in the context.
ERO, SDM Surankote, Naheem-Un-Nissa Bhatti, ERO,SDM Mendhar ,Dr.Sahil Jandyal; Principal Degree College Poonch, Prof.M.H Shah; Nodal officer SVEEP, CEO Education Poonch, Abdul Majid, Election Naib Tehsildar, Election Assistants besides all concerned officers were present.
