National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS) held its 60th convocation (diamond jubilee) at Kamla Raheja Auditorium, Ansari Nagar in New Delhi during which Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Professor Endocrinology and Head Department of Clinical Research SKIMS Srinagar was honoured as fellow by the academy.
Started on April 21, 1961 NAMS is a nodal agency under the Government of India. It acts as an advisory body to the Government in matters related to National Health Policy and Planning and promotion of medical education and research in India.
It also provides opportunities, on a regular basis, for the aspirants to undergo training at various centres of excellence.
Every year the academy recognizes excellence through fellowships and awards; like honorary fellows and elected fellows to eminent personalities and medical professionals respectively.
A statement of NAMS said, Dr. Vinod Paul, Member, Niti Ayog, Governement of India was the chief guest on the occasion of the convocation.
Dr. N K Ganguly, Ex DG Indian Council of Medical Research, New Delhi and Dr. Chooramani Gopal, president NAMS were also present.
