Many labourers, mates and contractors held a hoarding protest outside the block office Pattan against the Rural Development Department for not releasing the wages and funds against the works done in 2017/18.
The protesters claimed that many times they were assured that their wages and funds would be released but those assurances never materialised.
While replying to this , Commissioner Secretary RDD Mandeep Kaur said that the works were taken up more than the budget and limits and the scheme could not be utilised because of the voilation of Indian Government rules. As per her , the mistake was on the both sides i.e., by the workers as well as the office bearers during that year. However after trying all the efforts out , nothing could materialise because there was a clear violation of Indian Government guidelines in implementation of the said schemes by the concerned parties.
Now the govt is trying to create a separate appropriation budget from the J&K UT funds to meet those expenses of 2017/18 and hopefully there will be a positive relief to the bearers.
