Rajnath Singh arrived at the Army’s Division Headquarters in Rajouri, along with Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Army Chief Manoj Pande. General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Northern Command, Lt. General Upendra Dwivedi, and field commanders briefed the defence minister on the ongoing operation against terrorists in the Kandi forest and other areas of Rajouri and Poonch districts.

During his visit, the defence minister gave a clear message that the terrorists who killed soldiers would be hunted down at any cost, stated sources.

“Anybody trying to disturb peace and tranquility in J&K will not be spared,” Singh reportedly said during his visit. After flying back to Jammu from Rajouri, the defence minister left for New Delhi in the afternoon.

On Friday, five soldiers, including elite para commandos, were killed by terrorists in the Kandi forest area. In the ongoing operation against the terrorists, the Army killed one terrorist earlier in the day, while another is reported to have been injured. (TRK)
