On 20 September police party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO Police Station Sopore Insp. Khalid Fayaz under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Furqan Qadir-JKPS, during patrolling duty at Butpora arrested three drug peddlers when the arrested persons were moving in a suspicious circumstances and attempted to runaway, but were caught tactfully.
The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as:
1. Mushtaq Ahmad Gazi S/O Ghulam Muhammad R/O Shahabad Sopore.
2. Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/O Bashir Ahmad Ganie R/O Hathishah Sopore and
3. Zubair Ahmad Lone S/O Muhammad Rafi Lone R/O Khawaja Gilgat Sopore.
Police party were able to recover 30 grams Brown sugar like Substance from the three arrested accused follows as: 11 grams from the accused at serial number one,
09 grams from serial number 2 and 10 grams from the accused at serial number 3 during their personal search.
Regarding the incident case vide FIR number 246/2022 under section 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation is underway.
Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
