LEH: Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama arrived in Leh on Tuesday and was accorded grand reception.
Top officers of the Ladakh Administration and functionaries of LAHDC received him at the Leh Airport.
Hundreds of devotees including Ladakhis, Tibetans, monks and students lined up on both sides of the road to welcome the 14th Dalai Lama as his cavalcade passed through the streets.
The Dalai Lama was earlier scheduled to reach Leh on Monday from Delhi, but the flight was cancelled due to poor visibility.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur called on the Dalai Lama when he arrived at his Shewatsel (His Holiness’ Summer Residence) in Leh. The Dalai Lama will stay in Ladakh for about a month. His three-day teachings in Leh will begin on July 21.
The Dalai Lama expressed his happiness for being able to visit Ladakh once again and appreciated the warm heartedness and friendship shown by the people of Ladakh.
Also, on behalf of the UT Administration ADGP, Ladakh Police, Dr. Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal and Commissioner Secretary, Information and Higher Education, Padma Angmo accorded a warm welcome to Dalai Lama at the airport.
